Senior Styles & Wood directors depart

Tony Lenehan, chief executive, and Phil Lanigan, chief financial officer, of Styles & Wood and parent company Extentia Group, have both left the business.

Craig Eastwood, executive director of the Group’s furniture fixtures and equipment business, has been appointed replacement chief executive.

He will be working alongside Nigel Taylor who joined Extentia in July as chief operating officer, and Gareth Hurfurt, a professional interim executive, who has taken the position of interim group finance manager.

Lenehan and Lanigan were both long-time senior staff at Sale-based Styles & Wood. The company is part of Extentia, a property services group formed when Central Square Holdings acquired Styles & Wood and Southerns in 2018. Following the deal Lenehan became chief executive of both Styles & Wood and Extentia.

Other businesses in the Extentia stable include interior designer SpaceInvader and furniture supplier Ralph Capper. Investor BGF put £10m into the business in June this year.

While the end of last year saw Extentia announce it was targetting a £230m turnover, Styles & Wood has had a troubled year on a couple of significant projects.

Styles & Wood’s £38m deal to fit out the India Buildings, due to be home to HMRC’s 270,000 sq ft Liverpool office, was terminated in September after a series of delays related to the discovery of asbestos. Caddick was appointed as the replacement contractor.

At the time, a spokesperson for Styles & Wood said: “We consider the termination of our contract to be wrongful and we’re currently taking advice on next steps.”

Earlier this year, Place North West also revealed Styles & Wood had been replaced by Russells on Hyphen, Boultbee Brooks’ 52,000 sq ft office refurbishment on Mosley Street which is set to be home to WeWork.
