IFB launches global nuclear business forum

The International Festival for Business has launched a new event, Nuclear UK, which will bring together the world's nuclear industry experts as part of the IFB 2014 calendar this summer.

Nuclear UK will be held at the Park Royal Hotel in Stretton on 25 June. Nuclear UK will be a strategic leadership forum aimed at promoting ideas and innovations that will drive development of the nuclear industry.

The IFB is the largest global concentration of business events during 2014, running across seven weeks in June and July and aimed at attracting business delegates and trade intermediaries from the UK and overseas.

Steve Park, managing director of Warrington & Co, Warrington's partnership for economic growth, said: "That the nuclear sector has chosen to stage this prestigious event in Warrington underlines the town's significance within the international nuclear community."

Confirmed keynote speakers at Nuclear UK include:

John Clarke, chief executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

Stuart Crooks, managing director of EDF Energy

Robert Zadora, executive director of NuGen

Lord Hutton, chairman of Nuclear Industry Association

Tom Jones, vice president of Clean Energy Europe AMEC

Mike Tynan, chief executive of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre

Dave Unsworth, managing director of Westinghouse UK

Paul Howarth, chief executive of the National Nuclear Laboratory

Jean Llewellyn, chief executive of NSA Nuclear

Britain's Energy Coast is Nuclear UK's headline sponsor. Luke Dicicco, head of communications and inward investment, said: "The UK is a world leader in the nuclear industry and, having been the early pioneer, is now embarking on a renaissance which holds huge economic opportunities. West Cumbria, as home to the Sellafield site and a vibrant cluster of multi-nationals and innovative SMEs, has an important role to play in delivering UK and global aspirations."
