James Halstead plc, the flooring-to-motorcycle parts supplier, has acquired a 286,000 sq ft industrial unit in Salmon Fields, Royton near Oldham for £5.25m from bed manufacturer Hilding Anders.
James Halstead is set to occupy the building following refurbishment. The firm manufactures, markets, and distributes a wide variety of products including commercial flooring, industrial trailers and trailer tents, and motorcycle accessories. Customers include hospitals, pubs, prisons and schools.
Rick Davies of Davies Harrison, joint selling agents, said: "This sale is set to be one of the largest industrial deals in the North West of 2009. Halstead had been searching for a new building for more than four years and identified this facility which suited its requirements."
The manufacturing and distribution sits on a 12.68-acre site on Salmon Fields Employment Park near the M60 and M62.
Mike Rooney of WHR Property Consultants, who represented the purchaser, added: "In the last three months, WHR has acquired nearly 500,000 sq ft of industrial accommodation for clients and we are currently in the process of acquiring a further 150,000 sq ft unit for another occupier and are selling a 100,000 sq ft unit in Cheshire. We have never been busier proving that there are deals to be done even in these tough times."
Roberts & Roberts was joint selling agent.
