Enterprise zone workers get bookable bus service

A bookable bus service will provide direct transport links for workers at previously inaccessible locations within the Manchester Enterprise Zone, including Airport City and Manchester MediPark.

The Local Link service is part of Transport for Greater Manchester's £32.5m Let's Get to Work transport package designed to put people within reach of new employment opportunities.

Workers currently unable to access the site via public transport will be able to book bus transportation from their doorsteps 24 hours a day.

The enterprise zone service is only the second of its kind to be launched in Greater Manchester, with others set to be offered in Partington and Hattersley.

Councillor Andrew Fender, chair of the TfGM Committee, said: "Good transport links are the key to a successful economy, whether that be getting people to their workplace or goods to the market place.

"There are many opportunities in Wythenshawe, and the Manchester Enterprise Zone will add to that and become a huge centre of employment as it develops.

"All of those people investing in the area will want to be confident they have access to the skilled workforce that makes their commitment worthwhile.

"The new service also opens up for everyone the opportunity to connect with those new jobs."
