Six Town Housing, a landlord of former council stock in Bury, has published a tender for a building contract worth up to £5m for the construction of new care homes in Radcliffe.

The 21-month contract involves the demolition of the existing Red Bank care home on Lowe Street in Radcliffe, near Bury, and the construction of 40 new two bedroom apartments and associated communal facilities on the same site.

The contract is worth between £4.5m and £5m and work is envisaged to commence in February 2011.

Six Town Housing was set up in April 2005 as an arms length management organisation to manage properties on behalf of Bury Council.
