B&M takes second Cheshire warehouse
B&M has exchanged contracts on a 460,000 sq ft distribution centre in Middlewich, after it was announced earlier this month that the budget retailer had signed for a 350,000 sq ft warehouse in Runcorn.
B&M is sub-leasing Midpoint 460 in the Midpoint 18 business park for 10 years from landlord Tesco, which formerly used the warehouse for distribution. The unit sits on a 25-acre site.
Home furnishings company Dunelm had agreed to take Midpoint 460 earlier this year, however the deal feel through when the retailer decided to take a 525,000 sq ft warehouse in Sideway near to its current distribution base in Stoke-on-Trent.
Last week it was announced that B&M had agreed a 10-year lease on Onyx350, a Logicor-owned shed in Runcorn, with an option to extend the unit by 100,000 sq ft.
B&M, which currently has 444 UK stores, reported an increase in group sales of 29.5% to £1.6bn for the last financial year.
B&M was advised by law firm Gordons on the deals. JLL is the agent for Midpoint 460.
