The brothers behind discount retailer B&M Bargains have submitted a planning application for 192 apartments at No1 Lord Street in Manchester’s Green Quarter.
The scheme is being developed by Stockport-based Anglesource, of which Simon and Bobby Arora are directors.
Leach Rhodes Walker is the architect, while HOW Planning advised on the application.
The plot at the corner of Lord Street and Cheetham Hill Road will feature 192 new apartments, 76% of which have balconies, over 16 floors. The building will also include 1,800 sq ft ground floor retail space which will be let to an independent trader.
The site is partially vacant, and is made up of a surface car park and single-storey cabin building. The proposals include demolition of the existing structure to be replaced with the new residential scheme.
James Berggren, senior planner at HOW Planning, said: “The new scheme represents a great opportunity for redevelopment of this site, providing high quality residential accommodation in the city centre and contributing to the on-going regeneration of the area.”
The development will offer a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with one four-bed also available.
