Birchwood Park base for Hillsborough inquests

The Ministry of Justice is to use MEPC's Birchwood Park in Warrington as the base from which it will conduct its full inquest into the Hillsborough disaster.

Occupying 15,457 sq ft on the ground floor, 305 Bridgewater Place will house the hearing room and the inquests team for the duration of the inquests themselves.

The Ministry of Justice will begin fitting out the space before Christmas to meet the coroner's intention to start the inquests by 31 March 2014.

David Thwaites, from GVA, who advised the MoJ, said: "In view of the high profile nature of the inquest and the interest it is likely to generate, an easily accessible building was essential.

"Birchwood and Bridgewater Place in particular was the obvious choice due to the buildings excellent transport links and car parking facilities in addition to its wide range of on-site amenities."

BE Group and Jones Lang LaSalle are MEPC Birchwood Park's marketing agents at Bridgewater Place.
