Media City outdoor bar opens next week

With admirable optimism for a change in the weather, WhiteCircle Creative has designed and built an outdoor bar at Media City UK.

Dock Bar will open on Monday next to the giant outdoor screen. The bar will be managed by Fluid Bars.

The bar is designed to give visitors somewhere to sit and enjoy the Olympics coverage – Media City anchor the BBC is the official Olympics broadcaster.

It will also be ready in time for 'Summer in the City', a range of events on the Media City UK piazza over the coming weeks.

WhiteCircle specialises in exhibition and event structures. A shipping container product named WhiteCrate has been used to build the bar. WhiteCrate is an arm of WhiteCircle which specialises in the creative conversion of shipping containers.

WhiteCircle used two 20ft shipping containers to form the Dock Bar structure, one being the main bar and serving area, and the other behind to form a store for deckchairs which will be out in abundance on sunny days.

James Wrigley, managing director of Fluid Bars, said: "This is right up our street, providing a personalised offering in the incredible setting of Media City UK. We pitched a concept based on offering a quality drinks range and service to meet a discerning client base and attracting customers not only at Media City UK but also from further afield. With our wealth of experience in outdoor events and temporary bars over the past five years we know we can deliver a memorable service. We're excited to see our vision come to life".

Jon Flowerdew from WhiteCircle said: "WhiteCircle are delighted to be building the first outdoor bar structure on the Media City UK complex. It has been a great project for us and Fluid Bars, especially since Peel and Media City UK chose small local businesses and us as a Media City UK tenant to build and operate the structure. We cannot wait to see it fully operational and we feel our WhiteCrate bar will bring a new lease of life to the Piazza for all of the events throughout the summer and the rest of the year".
