Media City FE college prepares to open

Aspect Construction is due to complete the £6m Salford City College FutureSkills centre in Media City UK in April.

The refurbishment and extension project will create a new college offering courses in music, hospitality management, accounting and construction among others. In addition Trinity Business Training and Trinity Business & Management School will move into FutureSkills.

Training partners include tech giant Apple, audio specialist Roland and new Media City restaurant Damson.

Wes Allmark, director of Aspect, said: "The Future Skills centre will allow the college to offer more opportunities for students, and has provided Salford with a state of the art further educational facility, in the heart of Media City. It has been an excellent opportunity for Aspect Construction to showcase our ability of delivering fast-track building solutions within the FE sector."

Aspect Construction is based in Frodsham and was established in 2011 by former Wates project director Allmark. Turnover in 2012 was £12m and is forecast to be between £15m and £20m in 2013.

Good luck to all concerned in the enterprise – from what I can see, it looks like a great venue, but FutureSkills is not opening in Media City UK, they are opening in MediaCityUK.
