Mack Trading wins golf course work
Knowsley Council has announced its preferred partner to develop Bowring Park and golf course in Huyton.
Specialist amenity management company Mack Trading was selected ahead of six other unnamed companies.
The council said Mack Trading has a long track record of golf course development, with 11 golfing facilities in its portfolio including Heaton Park in Manchester.
Mack Trading will be responsible for the improvements and ongoing maintenance of the 18-hole golf course, car park, reception area, changing accommodation and club house. In addition, the company will further develop membership at the club and promotion of the 129-acre park and course.
The selection of the preferred partner was subject to an independent board, consisting of representatives from the council, Bowring Park Golf Course, Friends of Bowring Park, a group formed to protect the park, NHS Knowsley, and representatives from the private sector and voluntary and community sector.
Mack Trading will work with the council, Friends of Bowring Park, a group formed to protect the park, and Bowring Golf Club on the development.
Mack Trading has been issued with a 20 year lease, which will come into effect on 1 September.
Cllr Eddie Connor, Knowsley's cabinet member for leisure and culture services, said: "By bringing in the expertise of Mack Trading, Bowring Park and golf course will be developed and improved for all our residents and visitors. It is a fantastic facility that is a part of our local heritage and I look forward to seeing its potential fulfilled."
