Lendlease sets New Year start date at Potato Wharf
Developer and contractor Lendlease is set to start work early next year on the second phase of Potato Wharf in Manchester, around three years after a planning application was first submitted.
Lendlease completed the first two blocks on Potato Wharf in Castlefield’s canal basin in 2014, comprising 102 one and two-bed apartments, which sold for between £125,000 and £200,000.
Two further blocks have taken some time to come forward, with a planning application first being submitted in 2015. An amended application followed in February 2017, followed by further changes in December
Since then, Lendlease has tweaked the design and also the nature of the apartments, first marketing them for private rent before switching back to private sale in December last year.
Following strong sales the contractor is now looking to start construction work on the two blocks early next year. There will be 191 apartments with the design by Weedon Architects largely the same as the two existing apartment buildings.
Deloitte is on board as planner, along with structural consultant Curtins and M&E firm HE Simm.
Lendlease confirmed the build would start in the first quarter of next year when contacted by Place North West.
Brill.
Hurry up and get that footbridge open.

Lendlease really ought to be focusing some effort on supporting residents in the green quarter with replacing the dangerous cladding rather than washing their hands of any responsibility.
