Jungle experience to open at Lowry Outlet

A 27,000 sq ft indoor activity centre themed around TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity’ is due to open at the Lowry Outlet at MediaCityUK next year.

The site will be part of the mall, close to the Vue cinema and is set to feature the Base Camp, Croc Creek, and Snake Rock. Guests will compete and face obstacles and challenges in order to collect stars, in a similar style to the celebrities competing on the programme.

The partnership between Lifestyle Outlets, which owns both the Lowry Outlet and Gloucester Quays, and ITV, is part of the wider masterplan and £26m regeneration of the Lowry Outlet.

The project was granted planning permission in March this year, and work has begun on The Watergardens, converting the southern waterfront into a leisure destination with 35,000 sq ft of restaurant space. Both are set to open next year.

Jason Pullen, managing director of Lifestyle Outlets, said: “The ‘I’m a Celebrity Jungle Challenge’ will be the first of its kind in the UK. I am confident that the experience will be a huge draw for people across the North West and beyond as they look to get closer to the action of this iconic TV show.”

James Penfold, controller of partnerships for ITV, said: “The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Jungle Challenge’ is a one of a kind, multi-sensory adrenaline adventure. It brings together the heart and soul of the hugely celebrated series.”

Good to see another tourist attraction coming to Manchester, already the most visited British city outside of London

By B

Sounds tacky as… nah I’m alreet thanks. Also B… Unfortunately I think you’ll find that’s Edinburgh…

Just assumed with the success of the Quay St tours and the new sets nearby, this was going to be a Coronation St themed attraction. Bizarre choice.

This sounds great, should prove very popular

Manchester has taken over from Edinburgh as the second most visited city in UK but these statistics can be a bit suspect. I doubt Americans would rather see Piccadilly Landfill before the Royal Mile.

A UK first for ITV and GM, well done Lowry Outlet

@B Remove people only using the airport and business travellers, and I think that figure would come down just a tad.
