Hotel bid for Queen Insurance Buildings
Bruntwood is seeking planning consent to convert part of the grade 2-listed Queen Insurance Buildings in Liverpool into a hotel.
The Manchester-based property group is in talks with an undisclosed hotel operator about the potential use of 30,000 sq ft of the building. The space has been vacant since law firm DWF relocated to St Paul's Square, Liverpool.
The upper floors on the Castle Street side of the building would be used for the hotel. Some office space would be retained within the building, which could also benefit from an improved restaurant and retail offering.
The Queen Insurance Buildings span a corner plot and include a Victorian shopping arcade.
Colin Sinclair, director of property marketing at Bruntwood, said: "We can confirm a planning application has been submitted. This is part of our long term vision to secure the future of the building, which would retain a significant office presence alongside independent retail in the arcade. We are unable to make any further comment at this stage."
