Green light for 38 Runcorn homes

Mersey Regeneration will develop the 3.2-acre site off Palacefields Avenue in Brookvale – a plot that includes the former Lord Taverners’ youth centre.

Councillors followed recommendations to approve the proposals at Halton Council’s development management committee meeting on Wednesday.

The development mix comprises 33 houses and five apartments, with 10 one-bed, four two-bed, 16 three-bed, and eight four-bed units. A quarter of the site will be open space, with parking available to each property.

All 10 one-bed homes will be made available for affordable rent through a housing association.

The site become vacant after the youth centre was damaged in a fire six years ago, and subsequently demolished.

Cass Associates has led the project team, which also features Mulberry, Noise Assessments, Prime Transport Planning, and CC Geotechnical.
