The local council gave Caddick Developments approval for the next phase of logistics accommodation at Farington Park in Leyland.

Located on land south of the Lancashire Business Park, Farington Park Phase 2 includes four mid-box units totalling 96,000 sq ft with links to the motorway network.

Tom Park, associate director at Caddick Developments expects the scheme to attract regional and national businesses, adding that Farington Park is about more than just sheds.

“Our most recent investment of over half a million pounds has allowed us to provide much needed investment into a missing section of the Leyland Loop, as well as promoting active lifestyles and sustainable travel,” he said.

“We are also very gratified to hear positive feedback from local residents on the extensive tree planting that we have introduced to the area.”

Farington Park also features an outdoor gym, a seven-acre ecological area, and is striving for various sustainability credentials. These include BREEAM Excellent and EPC A.

Park added: “Understanding that the development of the site as a whole is key to delivering the region’s economic ambitions, we look forward to continuing to engage with the community to provide additional employment opportunities as we continue our journey to bring this important brownfield site back to life.”

Phase two follows the completion of the 544,000 sq ft first phase, which is let to Victorian Plumbing.

Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield are the retained agents at Farington Park.

Sam Royle, partner at Knight Frank, said: “Having secured a letting on phase one during construction, our attention now turns to the remaining land.

“This second phase of development has been tailored to address the acute lack of mid-box supply in the locality and is in response to the continued high levels of demand we are seeing from the local and regional SME market.”

Rob Taylor, partner at Cushman and Wakefield added: “The strength of the location is underpinned by the 544,000 sq ft letting to Victorian Plumbing and we have no doubt that phase two will be equally as successful.

“The quality of building that Caddick Developments deliver is well-known throughout the market and this will ensure we secure early interest in the scheme. The site is within one of the region’s best business parks, providing jobs and environment improvement for the area alongside excellent transport links.”
