Football clubs launch Liverpool office searches
Liverpool FC and Everton FC have both retained agents to search for city centre offices as they seek to free up space in their stadiums for increased corporate hospitality revenue.
Mason Owen has been hired by Liverpool to look for up to 20,000 sq ft. The move is not thought to be connected to existing space used by the club's TV channel in the Podium on Old Hall Street and Urban Splash's Matchworks in Garston.
Everton has hired Matthews & Goodman to find around 10,000 sq ft in the city centre.
Both clubs have seen ambitious new stadium plans stall at planning and financial stages. The Everton/Tesco plans for a new stadium in Kirkby are subject to a public inquiry decision and Liverpool is unlikely to see work begin in earnest at Stanley Park while under the ownership of Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Competition for the office requirements is strong with UK Land & Property and Pochin's Exchange Flags, Rumford Investments' 20 Chapel Street and Downing's and Bruntwood's portfolios among the numerous options available in today's market.
