Final Mill Vale homes handed over in Middleton
The exchange between developer Kellen Homes and partners Sigma Capital Group and First Choice Homes Oldham represents the completion of the 311-home Middleton scheme.
Mill Vale, sitting north of the River Irk on 31 acres off Don Street, includes 45 affordable two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes for housing association FCHO and 99 built-to-rent two- and three-bedroom homes.
Kellen Homes will put the remaining 167 properties on the market, available to buy via the developer with prices starting at £265,000.
The scheme was designed by Baldwin Design Consultancy and includes a more than 4,000 sq ft playground, a fitness trail, a walking route, and other green spaces.
Eleanor Frith, head of land and partnerships, Kellen Homes, said: “It is almost a year to the day from the handover of the first homes to First Choice Homes Oldham and Sigma, and today sees us officially complete and transfer the final homes.
“It is an important part of the Kellen Homes mission to collaborate with partners and bring forward affordable and mixed-tenure homes.
“We are focused on creating communities that meet the needs of local people.
Frith added that the neighbourhood’s proximity to transport links has played a big part in the scheme’s popularity.
Nick Anderson, head of development at FCHO, said: “This substantial development is a good example of FCHO’s work to offer family homes across a range of tenures and sizes to meet both housing needs and make home ownership more possible for more people.
This area has always been a “Hot Spot” for various reasons over the years, especially with the presence of Vitafoam in the nearby mill. I remember in the 1980’s, it was marked as an area of investigation on a map in a consultant’s room at The Christie .
