Film studio lines up Salford base

G6 Motion Control has signed a 10-year lease for 5,000 sq ft at Northern Trust’s Montford Enterprise Centre off West Ashton Street in Salford.

G6 specialises in high-speed cinema robots, Steadicams, motion-controlled rigs, tracking vehicles, and virtual production. The company said it had looked for space for a year or two before settling on Montford Enterprise Centre.

G6’s new space amounts to two units next to each other, one that is for storage, fabrication, and an office. The other is a dedicated film studio.

“We needed somewhere large enough to house all our specialist services and another joining unit/space where we could look to open up a brand new film studio,” explained G6 director Ramzan Anwar.

“Opening up a new film studio will go hand in hand with our current offering and will allow us to expand the business,” he continued. “The future looks bright now we have taken the leap and moved into our new space at Montford Enterprise Centre, and we can’t wait to draw more productions up to Manchester ideally providing more work and exposure for the crew in the local area.”

Victoria Anderton, asset manager at Northern Trust, welcomed G6 to the business park, saying she was pleased that Northern Trust could facilitate G6’s growth plans.

“Providing modern business space, Montford Enterprise Centre is now home to eight different companies, and there are only two units that remain available,” Anderton said. “We have had strong interest in the remaining space and I am confident the scheme will be fully occupied in the near future.”

Elsewhere in the North West, another film studio has been making progress. Work started on Capital&Centric’s Littlewoods project in Liverpool earlier this month. Watch Place North West’s video, with drone footage, commemorating the occasion.
