Co-op picks Arup for city centre masterplan

The Co-operative Group has chosen architectural practice Arup to masterplan the 20-acre site it is considering for redevelopment in central Manchester.

Arup beat KPF, BDP and Heneghan Peng to design the mixed-use project between Corporation Street and Miller Street.

Jones Lang LaSalle and Gardiner & Theobald are working with Arup to draw up the masterplan, which is due to be completed by the end of this year.

The Co-op is currently looking at sites in Manchester city centre, as well as Rochdale, Oldham and Bury for possible relocation of its headquarters.
