Cheshire Lakes returns for latest decision
The revised planning application for a watersports centre in a disused quarry in Cheshire which has divided councillors is due to go back to committee next week, with a recommendation by officers to grant approval subject to more than 30 conditions.
The £1.6m adventure park in Chelford would transform a 55-acre former Hanson quarry into a visitor attraction with two lakes for wakeboarding, swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding.
The first planning application by Cheshire Lakes Community Interest Company was submitted in 2015 and has been approved and unapproved through a series of council administrative errors and changes of mind by committee members.
The list of 34 conditions includes mitigation plans for birds to ensure breeding grounds are protected and to minimise the impact on planes flying into Manchester Airport.
Walsingham Planning is lead consultant alongside Aecom, Campbell Reith, FOB Design and Urban Green.

Travesty this is still rumbling, but hopefully end is in sight. A great proposal.

The whole thing has been a farce.

There no mention of sailing; what’s the point of water sports centre without a sailing dinghy facility.
