Capenhurst seeks project manager for £80m facility

Capenhurst Nuclear Services is looking to appoint a project manager to oversee the design, construction and commissioning of an £80m expansion of its nuclear-licensed Cheshire site.

Capenhurst launched the search for a contractor for a legacy cylinder facility earlier this year. The construction of the building is part of Capenhurst's hazard reduction programme and will deal with the management of uranium hexafluoride. The facility is expected to be open by 2020 with a lifetime of 25 years, dealing with 24,000 tonnes of material during that period.

A spokesman for Capenhurst said that all contracts are expected to be appointed prior to Christmas, with designs finalised early next year.

Capenhurst Nuclear Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Urenco UK and its tenant at Capenhurst. Urenco is currently building major new premises at the site, which it acquired from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in 2011.

The deadline for receipt of tenders is 7 October 2014 at 3pm.
