Caddick’s Farington logistics hub approved
South Ribble Council has granted consent to the developer to create a 612,000 sq ft industrial scheme on a 40-acre site next to Lancashire Business Park.
The project, known as Farington Park, could create more than 1,000 jobs once complete, according to the Caddick Developments.
Designed by Yorkshire-based KPP Architects, the park will feature a mix of industrial, commercial and logistics space ranging from box-box distribution units, mid-box production and warehousing and smaller office units for local businesses
The site, located at Junction 29 of the M6 and J9 of the M61 at the centre of Lancashire’s motorway network, is allocated for employment use in the South Ribble Local Plan and is the largest employment allocation within the borough.
Agencies Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank have been appointed to market industrial units off-plan to prospective occupiers.
NJL Consulting was the planning consultant for the project and Urban Green was the masterplanner, ecologist, landscape planner, landscape architecture and arboriculturist.
Steve Widdowson, North West director of Caddick Developments, said: “This project will contribute to the economic recovery of the region from the Covid-19 pandemic and offer an attractive proposition to businesses looking to establish themselves in the North West.”
Levels of industrial accommodation in the North West are low following a 64% increase in uptake last year compared to 2019 due to changing consumer behaviours accelerated by the pandemic.
