Caddick to build DPD’s Carlisle distribution centre
Work on the 62,000 sq ft Kingmoor Park facility is due to start in November.
Carlisle City Council granted Kingmoor Park Properties planning approval for DPD’s distribution centre in August.
Now, Caddick Construction has been appointed to build the facility, located close to Junction 44 of the M6, which is due to complete next August.
DPD currently occupies a 42,195 sq ft unit at Kingmoor Park but has signed a new lease on the larger, new-build unit to meet its need for more space.
The new distribution centre, part of the wider K2 scheme at Kingmoor Park, will accommodate 20 HGVs and 181 vans.
“When fully developed, K2 will provide over 1m sq ft of new industrial and logistics space, on a site with its own solar farm that can provide up to 70% of occupiers’ energy needs,” said Neil McIntyre of Kingmoor Park Properties.
“It’s very much what the future of logistics development in this country will look like.”
Colliers and JLL are the letting agents for K2.
The wider professional team includes Fletcher Rae Architects, G&T Project Management, Richard Boothroyd Associates, Ramboll, WSP, Sweco, Re-form and Multi Utility UK.
