Brilliant Hotels adds historic Crewe building to portfolio
The Royal Hotel located off Nantwich Road has been purchased by a subsidiary of the hotel management company, which also owns the Trafford Hall Hotel and Broadfield Park Hotel Rochdale.
The three-storey Royal Hotel dates back to the 18th century and is locally listed. It has 36 bedrooms and is located within a five-minute walk from the Crewe train station.
Graham + Sibbald facilitated the building’s sale, acting for a private pension fund. The final sale price to Brilliant Hotels company Crewe Hotels was not disclosed, however, the guide price for the Royal Hotel was £1.5m.
The last time the hotel was sold, in 2017, it went for £665,000 plus VAT. Since then, it has undergone extensive refurbishment, including completing revamping its function room and bar.
“We are pleased to have facilitated the sale of the Royal Hotel,” said Martin Davis, director of hotel and leisure at Graham + Sibbald’s Manchester office.
“This strategic acquisition for the buyers is an excellent opportunity for them to develop the business given the importance of Crewe as a developing hub location including the proposed town centre regeneration and massive investment into the area,” Davis said.
Brilliant Hotels managing director Anoob Saban said the company was “absolutely delighted” by the purchase.
“It’s a fantastic historic hotel in an amazing location for visitors and businesses alike,” Saban said. “We are excited to expand our work in the town and continue to play a crucial role in the development of this hotel.”
