Blackpool’s Adrenalin World moves forward
Holmes Investment Properties has signed an initial six-year lease on 39 acres at Stanley Park Golf Course to advance its contentious plans for a £45m indoor attraction.
A 175-year lease will be triggered upon completion of the Adrenalin World project, which is subject to planning approval.
A planning application for the scheme will be lodged following a period of public consultation on the proposals beginning in late October, according to HIP.
Michael Simmonds, chief executive of Holmes Investment Properties said: “We are very pleased to be moving forward with the project at Stanley Park Golf Course and look forward to sharing our exciting plans with the public in the coming weeks to create a unique new leisure destination for Blackpool.”
Adrenalin World is a concept headed up by tennis player-turned-leisure mogul, David Lloyd, and is to be constructed on the part of the golf course east off East Park Drive.
Activities on offer include zip-wires, climbing walls, crazy golf courses and trampolines. Around 250 holiday lodges also feature in HIP’s Stanley Park scheme.
In addition, the project proposes reducing the golf course from 18 to nine holes.
This has caused controversy among both residents and councillors who object to the loss of open space.
Last July, Blackpool Council’s executive approved the sale of the land to HIP subsidiary United Kingdom Adventure Parks.
However, this decision was called-in and passed up to full council at the behest of Cllr Tony Williams. The councillor said there had been “inadequate consultation” over the plans and that the council’s executive committee had failed to take into account residents’ concerns when it made its decision to approve the land sale.
The land sale was subsequently approved by full council in October 2020, with 17 councillors voting to uphold the executive’s earlier decision and 13 voting in opposition.
Ryder Architecture is leading on the design of Adrenalin World and Paragon Building Consultancy is the project manager. Iceni Projects is the planning consultant.
Have they considered the impact on the roads with extra cars etc East Park Dr is already bottlenecked with traffic. Also the impact on the Hospital with the noise and Ambulance services.
Hopefully the Council are going to improve the road infrastructure to allow for these problems???

Just totally unacceptable for the area. Which is very busy. The Adrenalin Centre should be on the outskirts of Blackpool….If at all.
