Assura to make Altrincham move

After 12 years at Brew House in Warrington, the listed healthcare developer and investor is relocating its headquarters to 3 Barrington Road, a building it acquired from Colombia Threadneedle for £8.3m last year.

Assura will occupy 9,500 sq ft at the Altrincham building from July and is drawing up plans to comprehensively refurbish the entire 35,000 sq ft building to improve its energy efficiency.

A Pozzoni-designed refurbishment of the office  – formerly known as the Southmark Building – completed in 2020.

One of the key drivers behind the relocation is its accessibility, according to Assura chief executive Jonathan Murphy.

“Altrincham has unparalleled public transport links into Manchester and beyond with a fantastic business community in the town that we want to be a part of.

“Assura has been through a period of sustained growth and the new office in Altrincham will be the start of a fantastic new chapter for the company. We have plans to renovate the office to create an inspirational new environment for our staff and the existing tenants in the building.”

The news of Assura’s relocation to Altrincham comes in the wake of the company’s £119m pre-tax loss for the year ended 31 March 2022.

The listed real estate investment trust is responsible for 608 properties with a portfolio value of £2.7bn. More than 6.3m people are served by Assura’s buildings.

Assura was founded in 2003 and employs 73 people.

Christoper Dee advised Assura on the acquisition and relocation.
