Art school takes 20,000 sq ft in Manchester
Victoria College of Art and Design has signed a 16-year lease at Britannia Invest’s Bridgewater House on Whitworth Street.
The college, which has other departments based in Wellington House in Piccadilly, is opening up a 20,000 sq ft site for its design school on the fourth floor of the 180,000 sq ft office, managed for the landlord by Catella APAM.
The college will pay £26/sq ft.
William Grenfell, associate director at Catella APAM, said: “Securing Victoria College of Art and Design at Bridgewater House highlights the demand for flexible, high-quality office space that combines character with modern amenities.
“We are excited to see the continued success of this building and look forward to welcoming other tenants to the space.”
Savills and Edwards Property are joint letting agents for Bridgewater House. Other tenants in the building include Dept, DFH, and Transpennine Express.
Daniel Barnes, director at Savills Manchester, added: “Bridgewater House offers impressive architecture that perfectly combines traditional features with a high-quality, modern specification, making it the ideal space for a creative occupier such as Victoria College of Art and Design.”
The letting is on the larger side of deals completed in Manchester this year and underlines education providers as being some of the most active organisations when it comes to office deals.
