Arcadis makes Walsh healthcare sector lead

After more than five years at Ryder Architecture, Sheldon Walsh has started a new chapter with the global design and engineering practice.

Walsh has been appointed healthcare sector lead for the UK and Ireland at Arcadis. He is based out of the firm’s Manchester office.

“Joining Arcadis is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare delivery across the UK and Ireland,” Walsh said.

“With the depth of expertise and resources available at Arcadis, I am confident we can drive forward innovative solutions that respond to the evolving needs of patients, clinicians, and communities.”

Walsh has more than 20 years of experience working in the healthcare sector and, in addition to his time at Ryder, has worked at AFL Architects. Walsh has used that time to build up an expertise in clinical planning, estate transformation, and NHS procurement.

His recruitment to Arcadis builds upon the company’s recent healthcare sector project wins: becoming trust cost advisor for the £1.5bn Airedale New Hospital Redevelopment Programme in West Yorkshire and securing the design contract for the 100,000 sq ft expansion of Aintree University Hospital in Fazakerley.

Justin Harris, global practice group director healthcare at Arcadis, welcomed Walsh to the team.

“Sheldon’s passion for innovation and collaborative engagement with healthcare bodies brings additional senior level support our clients address the challenges they continue to face,” he said.

Arcadis operates in more than 30 countries across the globe, with 36,000 staff. In the UK, it has 20 offices, including two in Manchester and one each in Warrington and Cumbria.
