Approval due for Keel phase two
Liverpool City Council’s planning committee is expected to approve the next phase of development at Queens Dock, where Glenbrook and Moorfield have proposed a further 257 apartments to sit alongside the former HMRC building, which was converted into flats last year.
The first phase of the 240-apartment Keel development completed in September, and is considered to be the region’s first bespoke private rented scheme. The main contractor was Pochin.
Phase two has been designed by Brock Carmichael, with two eight-storey blocks sitting on the remaining land at the waterfront site.
Liverpool City Council’s planning committee will meet on Tuesday 9 August, and planning officers have recommended the scheme be approved.
At the same meeting, a reworking of a residential scheme planned for 65 Duke Street by Lady Mia Developments is also due to be granted planning consent. Despite previously gaining planning approval for 75 student apartments, the application has reduced the scheme to 69 apartments, for private rent.
The architect on the project is Day, with designs showing the retention of the Duke Street faced, and the construction of a three- to seven-storey building behind, with the entrance on Wolstenholme Square.
Confirms the renewed emphasis on apartments across Ropewalks. And looks like an improved design for The Keel, harmonising with the older docks. A great location on the Waterfront next to the Exhibition Centre.
