AO takes another 305,000 sq ft in Crewe

The Panattoni-developed industrial unit is the online electronics retailer’s fourth in the town, taking its total footprint there beyond 1m sq ft.

Located at Crewe Commercial Park south-east of the town centre, the 305,000 sq ft unit comprises a 291,000 sq ft warehouse and 15,000 sq ft of offices.

The facility, constructed by Winvic and known as Crewe 305, will be used to store more than 200,000 appliances and create around 80 jobs, according to AO.

The 10-year deal signed by AO takes the number of logistics centres it has in Crewe to four.

Last year, AO signed for 110,000 sq ft at Quorum and Cabot Properties’ Q110 on Weston Road.

AO also occupies two other Weston Road facilities.

The company signed a 10-year lease on a 386,000 sq ft warehouse in 2016. This unit was acquired for £36m by Tritax’s Big Box REIT in 2018.

The third Weston Road warehouse, owned by Prologis, spans 360,000 sq ft. AO moved in in 2011 when the company was still known as Expert Logistics.

Tony Chrystal, director of operations at AO Logistics, said: “It’s fantastic to see AO both growing it’s logistics base in the North-West and providing even more job opportunities for the people of Cheshire.

“The rapid expansion of AO Logistics is really a testament to the hard work of our people and how much we’ve grown over the last 18 months.”

Dan Burn, development director at Panattoni, said: “Panattoni has worked hard with AO and their team to provide them with immediate access to our new Crewe 305 facility upon practical completion of the building.

“Letting the building on practical completion further endorses our speculative development programme”.

Law firm Gordons and agent Savills advised AO on the letting.

Legat Owen, Burbage Realty and CBRE acted for Panattoni.

The 305,000 sq ft warehouse is the second developed by logistics developer Panattoni at Crewe Commercial Park.

The developer let a 238,000 sq ft unit to specialist fuel, food, and animal feed distributor NWF in 2019.
