Amazon takes 170,000 sq ft Lancashire warehouse

The e-commerce giant has agreed a 10-year lease on a 170,000 sq ft unit within Lancashire Business Park, as part of the expansion of its logistics business.

The 130-acre park near Leyland is owned by Lancashire County Developments, part of Lancashire County Council.

Amazon Logistics was launched in 2012 as an in-house courier service in a move away from outsourcing delivery to companies such as Hermes, and uses local and regional firms to distribute packages seven days a week from its delivery hubs and sorting centres.

Amazon has taken Unit 3.1 within the park, for £4.50/sq ft.

JLL and Lambert Smith Hampton are the joint agents for the park. Amazon represented itself.
