Allerton Golf Club refurb plans revealed
Allerton Golf Club Trading, part of Maghull Group, has submitted a planning application to Liverpool City Council for the first phase of refurbishment at the golf course.
The owner-operator took over the course from the council on a 25-year lease six months ago.
The initial plans propose a complete refurbishment of the grade two-listed clubhouse building to create a new golf shop, a glazed café and bistro in the courtyard, a refurbished bar and restaurant and a raised timber terrace overlooking the 18th green.
The scheme will also provide improved parking provision for golfers and visitors.
Future proposals include the introduction of two par five holes which, along with other improvements to greens and tees, aim to make the course more challenging and attractive to golfers.
Allerton Golf Trading is working with PGA Golf Architects on the improvement programme, with the later phases to be announced in more detail later this year.
Subject to planning, the operator hopes to deliver the works through winter for completion before the start of the new golf season in April next year.
Jonathan Large, director of golf for Allerton Golf Trading, said: “When we took on this contract we said that we believed that pay for play facilities should be looking to match the best private golf clubs in terms of the quality of the course and the wider facilities, and we are now making that pledge a reality.
“The clubhouse urgently needs a significant upgrade and our plans will bring it right up-to-date and I am sure will be appreciated by everyone who plays here.”
Lets hope its tasteful Mike! Be careful its Grade II listed!

Looks Impressive.
Well done for their commitment to the club and members.
Lets hope the membership reciprocate.

Let’s hope it’s more tasteful than the slab they’ve erected in a prime site on Hope Street! Liverpool blighted by so many developments for the sake of it, with Council acting as a nodding dog.
