Affordable housing scheme under way in Congleton
Laurus Homes and Seddon have started on a 94-home development off Manchester Road and Biggs Way.
The semi-rural development at Giantswood Grove will be a mix of two to five-bedroom houses. Half of the homes will be available for shared ownership and affordable rent, with the remainder for private sale.
Seddon’s Housing Partnership arm is delivering the build for Laurus Homes, a profit-for-purpose development company which is part of the Trafford Housing Trust. Completion is expected in Q3 2021.
Plans for the scheme were approved back in February this year; BTP Architects designed the development.
Duncan Williams, regional director at Seddon, said: “This mixed-tenure development is creating much-needed new homes in line with Cheshire East’s affordable housing policy. Construction is underway, with the team working closely with Laurus Homes to ensure local residents can move into the properties as soon as possible.”
Sandra Cooke, field sales manager at Laurus Homes, said: “Congleton has proven very popular with buyers and it is easy to see why.
“Giantswood Grove will be extremely well connected and within easy reach of the M6 and A34, providing great commuter links. As a profit-for-purpose developer, we’re proud to be bringing an affordable element to Giantswood Grove and to see the profits from the scheme be reinvested into the local community.
Good to hear at last there is to be some affordable homes getting built.
