AECOM appoints Northern regional director

Matthew Gerken has joined the global infrastructure consultancy’s building and places division after seven years working at rival RPS Group.

As regional director for the North for the building and places team, Gerken is charged with both building AECOM’s relationships with its Northern clients and growing the business’s portfolio. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in property, with expertise in strategic project management.

Gerken began his role at AECOM in July and is based out of AECOM’S Salford office.

“I am really pleased to join AECOM and looking forward to meeting new colleagues and further strengthening our regional presence,” Gerken said.

“AECOM is very much a ‘one team’ business for both clients and colleagues, collaboration and working in partnership are the key elements for a successful professional relationship.”

AECOM regional director for the North and Midlands, Jonathan Moore, welcomed Gerken to the team.

“It’s a hugely exciting time for AECOM in Manchester and the North, as we have just moved into our new office in Salford,” Moore said.

“Matt will play a key role in our work with clients to solve their most complex challenges, helping to deliver sustainable legacies for them and their communities.”

Dallas-headquartered AECOM has offices around the world. Around 580 staff members are based in AECOM’S Salford office at 100 Embankment. Recent projects for the team in the region include the English Cities Fund’s £2.5bn Salford Crescent masterplan, Sefton Council’s £73m Marine Lakes Event Centre, and LTE Group’s £36m Manchester College city campus.
