Vistry acquires site for Hazel Grove care home
Three years after proposals for 109 apartments off London Road were first lodged by Kirkland Developments, the registered provider has bought the site and refreshed the plans.
Vistry Group, which was recently awarded £350m from the government’s £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme, has submitted revised proposals for the Hazel Grove site to Stockport Council in partnership with Kirkland.
The revised plans provide the same number of flats as the earlier proposal, which was backed by Stockport Council’s planning committee in 2024 but has not been formally approved.
The biggest change is a switch from open market apartments to extra care accommodation. Other tweaks include revising the previous two-block design to a single block.
The mix of units is now 94 one-bed flats and 15 with two bedrooms. The apartment scheme proposed 73 one-bedroom dwellings and 36 with two beds.
JDA Architects is leading on design, having replaced Nicol Thomas, while NJL Consulting has been retained to provide planning advice.
