Lidl updates proposals for Ellesmere Port debut

The rapidly expanding discount retailer has submitted revised plans for a 20,000 sq ft store off Old Chester Road in Great Sutton, having increased the size of the site under its control.

In July, Cheshire West and Chester Council granted Lidl permission for its first Ellesmere Port store on the site of the Great Sutton Health Centre, which is relocating to a new site across the road.

However, since those plans were first lodged in 2022, the supermarket chain has takee control of the former McColls store next door.

This acquisition means Lidl can now knock down that unit and increase the size of the car park that was originally proposed from 80 spaces to 95.

An updated application reflecting the change has been submitted to the council for consideration.

To view it, search for reference number 25/03590/FUL on Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning portal.

Rapleys is advising Lidl on the proposals.
