Silverlane progresses 25-storey Eccles tower
Designed by Jeffrey Bell Architects, the 256-apartment project would be built on the site of the former Vauxhall garage on the corner of Albert Street and Peel Street.
Silverlane Developments, which is also behind plans for a 23-storey scheme elsewhere in Eccles, has submitted a planning application for the 25-storey tower to Salford City Council.
The Albert Street plot was previously the subject of proposals by Cheshire Estates for a 22-storey scheme featuring 150 apartments. The company lodged plans for the project in 2019 but scrapped them two years later.
According to Companies House, Cheshire Estates is now in liquidation.
Silverlane then stepped in to acquire the site and is now progressing plans for a larger development, comprising a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and six townhouses.

That right there is how you integrate balconies into a tall building, and this on an unremarkable site in Eccles. Well done to the architects and developer. MCC – take note please.

The rents ? interesting comment that…….I heard the proposed rents are based on local comparable evidence and existing stock, discounted to Media City, Salford keys etc, perhaps mr anonymous should speak to the developer in person……

Why not simply celebrate the fact that someone is prepared to invest a lot of money in a really significant regenerative act in a place that has heard promise after promise about regeneration and seen nothing worthwhile. No; let’s moan and groan; make snide remarks and be generally dismissive.

I’ve said it before Eccles is the next to boom and it’s already started, get in whilst you can. Excellent transport links to the centre and the rest of the UK. Monton, the Trafford Centre, the loop line, plenty of independent shops, bars and lots of green spaces.

Property prices definitely on the up around Eccles. It’s always been the poor relation to Monton but the connectivity into Manchester on the Tram and only 8 mins on the train is what is going to drive uptake. It needs more investment but this is decent news.

Where will all these people park there cars? The site is not big enough to accommodate a decent car park unless they have bought part of the car park next to the Milton Hotel/JCP.

Interesting to know about parking? Other developments in the nearby area have major issues with parking meaning the footpaths have become parking areas making it impossible for prams & Wheelchairs to pass
