Suppliers’ open day for £250m BSF

Contractors competing for Warrington and Halton's Building Schools for the Future are inviting sub-contractors to hear about work opportunities.

The councils received provisional approval last year for a combined bid to rebuild and modernise 15 schools. The precise funding package is expected to be confirmed in March or April.

The two overall contractors competing for the work are Laing O'Rourke and a consortium of Hochtief, Galliford Try and Vinci.

Local businesses are invited by both councils to attend an event on Friday 19 February at the Daresbury Park Hotel in Warrington. Running from 9.30am until 12.30pm, local suppliers will be able to meet the council procurement managers and contractors in the running to undertake the work in the two boroughs.

If the Government's Partnerships for Schools body approves the funding deal work will start at the following schools in summer 2011: William Beamont High School, Orford (rebuild), Penketh High School, Penketh (rebuild), Lysander High School, Padgate (modernise), and Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, Latchford (modernise).
