ACC lands Museums Association conference
The Museums Association will return to Liverpool's Arena and Convention Centre next year.
Organisers say the event on 11-12 November, 2013, will be the biggest of its kind in Europe attracting 500 delegates.
David Fleming, director of National Museums Liverpool and Museums Association board member, worked closely with ACC Liverpool to bring the event to the city.
He said: "Liverpool is the obvious choice. Not only is National Museums Liverpool based here, with a group of outstanding, world-class venues, but the city now has a world-class convention centre, as well as great shops, hotels and restaurants."
The Museum Association's annual conference will take place in Edinburgh this year. It was last held in Liverpool in 2008.
Sharon Heal, head of publications and events at the Museums Association, said: "We had a really successful conference at ACC Liverpool four years ago and our delegates and visitors will be keen to see the new Museum of Liverpool, which opened last year.
"This, together with existing attractions such as the International Slavery Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate Liverpool and the recently relocated Open Eye Gallery, provides a fantastic package for our delegates."
