Works begins on £9m Bowdon homes
Real Estate Investment Partnerships has started on site with the redevelopment of a Victorian villa in Bowdon, Trafford, into 12 apartments and townhouses.
REIP was granted planning permission last year for the conversion of the former Transform Clinic and grounds on the corner of Green Walk and The Firs. Originally built in 1861, the property is within a predominantly Victorian residential setting in Bowdon’s conservation area.
The 15,700 sq ft scheme, designed by Ollier Smurthwaite, has been named Highbank at Green Walk. There will be six three-bedroom apartments in the main house, a penthouse apartment of 2,900 sq ft. The main house will also accommodate two town houses. Within the grounds of Highbank, the existing coach house will be converted into a three-storey three-bedroom house. Two additional houses will be built in the grounds.
The contractor is Chrome Services, and the project is due to complete by June 2017.
The properties are being marketed at an average price of more than £800,000.
Period features of the building will be restored, such as high ceilings and sash windows, while the homes will include open-plan living spaces, and modern appliances.
Stephen Slater, chief executive at Real Estate Investment Partnerships, said: “Highbank at Green Walk is a very special project. Situated within one of the country’s most prestigious postcodes, it was vital that the design paid tribute to its location.”
Highbank at Green Walk is one of several schemes that the developer is launching across Cheshire, Manchester and London, including Alexandra House, which is an £18m residential development on Ashley Road in Altrincham.
