Work starts on transformation of old ICI power station site

Breck Homes has completed remediation work on the brownfield plot in Thornton-Cleveleys, so that construction can begin on 210 affordable homes.

Jigsaw Homes Group will manage the residences when work completes in March 2026.

Set off Bourne Road, the £30m development includes 123 affordable rent homes and 87 rent-to-buy homes. The properties break down to 81 one-bedroom apartments, 51 two-bedroom houses, 66 three-bedroom houses, six four-bedroom houses and six bungalows. All the homes will be built above the flood zone in the area.

Plans for the scheme include green spaces, private driveways and electric vehicle charging points.

“We are really pleased that work has now begun on what will be our largest housing development scheme yet to ensure we deliver much-needed, affordable homes to Wyre with our partners Homes England, Breck Homes and Wyre Borough Council,” said Jigsaw operations director for development Garnet Fazackerley.

“This is part of our ambitious but achievable drive to deliver 800 new, affordable and sustainable homes a year across our areas of operation.”
