Work begins on Huyton warehouses
Construction has started at Redsun Developments’ 1a Wilson warehouse scheme at Huyton Business Park, Merseyside.
Two industrial units totalling 35,000 sq ft will be delivered on the two-acre site, which Redsun acquired from a private London-based investor in 2016.
Huyton Business Park is located close to the Tarbock interchange, and is home to a number of occupiers including Halewood International, Travis Perkins, Screwfix, Howdens Joinery, and Toolstation.
Redsun has exchanged contracts with Viking Life-Saving Equipment, who will take 20,000 sq ft on the completed scheme. Viking services maritime life-saving equipment, with operations in 40 countries. Once building work completes the company is planning on centralising key activities for all of the UK into the purpose-built facility.
Nick Wightman, director, Redsun Developments: “We wanted to design and deliver a building that brings about a genuine step-up in quality compared to the existing stock available in this location. Attracting and securing an occupier with the quality of Viking has shown this to be the right approach.”
The development is scheduled to complete in February 2018. Jonathan Lowe of GVA is the instructed agent on the development. Viking Life-Saving Equipment were represented by Roy Backhouse & Co.
The project is part-funded through a long-term loan facility with Lloyds Bank.
