Wirral Waters office secures £3m funding
Peel L&P’s £7.5m, 34,000 sq ft office at Wirral Waters has been given £3m in grant funding by the Liverpool City Region, paving the way for construction work to begin.
The No1 Tower Road development, designed by architect Glenn Howells, secured planning permission at the start of this month, and offers grade A office accommodation over three floors.
This is split between six office suites on the upper two floors while the first floor include incubator space targeted at SMEs, and will provide a total of 34,000 sq ft of offices.
Liverpool City Region has now granted the project £3m via its Single Investment Fund, potentially allowing work to get under way. The total value of the scheme is £7.5m.
Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said: “We are here to build an inclusive economy that works for everyone in our city region. Supporting this project will help to breathe new life into Birkenhead’s docklands and generate jobs and opportunities for local people, which is what we’re all about.”
Richard Mawdsley, development director for Wirral Waters at Peel L&P, said: “This is fantastic news for Wirral Waters and for the Liverpool City Region. This funding is vital for the creation of a multi-million-pound business hub on Tower Road which will promote economic growth by bringing investment, jobs and prosperity to Wirral. SIF funding is a significant step forward to making this important project a reality.”
