Warrington hotel applies for 66-room extension
Plans will be considered by Warrington Council for the construction of a 66-room extension to The Village Hotel, which would bring its total number of rooms up to 193.
The applicant, Village Hotel Group, wants to expand an existing site, which is situated on an almost 14-acre plot off Centre Park Square in Warrington and currently has 127 bedrooms.
The three-storey extension has been designed by CUBE Architecture and Design.
Each floor would have 22 bedrooms installed with a mix of room types. There would be 13 double bedrooms, a single accessible bedroom, and eight bedrooms containing two double beds.
The extension’s total new gross internal floorspace would be to 26,400 sq ft.
A planning statement, submitted by agent Pegasus Group, suggests the “need to meet the growing demand for hotel rooms in this location”, as a reason for the expansion.
The proposed extension would require the removal of 101 car parking spaces, reducing the total number of car parking spaces across the site to 272.
As part of the plans, improvements to landscaping and enhanced biodiversity would be required.
The project’s team also includes Ascerta and FutureServ.

The fact that hospitals need to go through planning show the need for mass reform of our planning system. If they own the land and they need the beds crack on!

‘A single accessible room’ I really hope you mean single in the sense that there is only one of these rooms.
They surely can’t think that people who have disabilities are all single people and who don’t want to go away with a partner?
