United Utilities appoints JV for £200m framework
A joint venture between construction firms Galliford Try and Costain and engineering consultancy Atkins has been awarded a contract to upgrade Liverpool's waste water treatment works.
The joint venture was appointed by the United Utilities Group to work on its AMP5 schemes in April 2010. The Liverpool waste water scheme will be progressed as part of the existing process alliance framework.
Work involves extending the current treatment works in Vauxhall into the adjacent dock along with major upgrade works to the existing plant to be in line with discharge consents set by the Environment Agency.
Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "We are delighted to secure this business from an existing framework client. It builds on our track record in delivering both clean and waste water infrastructure projects."
