“We want to transform Crompton Place to bring it into the future of Bolton,” said Paul Whittingham, the authority’s assistant director of development and regeneration.
The Crompton Place scheme, which will feature around 400 homes, office space, and a hotel, forms part of Bolton’s £1bn plan to create a “liveable, legible, and connected”, and the site will be ready for development to begin once demolition concludes.
The council is seeking a “best-in-class developer” to lead the project, which will benefit from the creation of a Mayoral Development Corporation to drive the redevelopment of the wider town centre.
The foundation for Crompton Place is being laid as we speak with various council strategies drafted to shape the future of the town centre and schemes like Placefirst’s Deansgate Gardens and Step Places Moor Lane setting pace as far as residential values go.
“We’re starting to see the change in the town centre,” Whittingham said.
“That creates a great ambition and opportunity that needs to be transformed into reality.”
