Turley director leaves to set up OPEN studio
Jaimie Ferguson has joined masterplanning and landscape designer OPEN as a director to launch the firm’s Manchester studio.
Ferguson arrived in Manchester as a student 20 years ago and has worked at EDAW, BDP, and, since May 2013, Turley, where he was national head of design.
Ferguson said: “I’ve been privileged to work with some great clients and collaborators on a series of really significant projects. In establishing this new studio I’m freer to take that further, moving projects from strategy through to implementation; delivering real change.”
Ferguson has worked in the UK, Far East, Middle East and Russia on city-wide spatial and regeneration strategies as well as site-specific design and public realm.
A number of his significant masterplans here in the North West have gone on to be implemented including: the upgrade and expansion of Chester Zoo; the Etihad Campus, Manchester City’s training complex with associated community facilities; and most recently a 400 home regeneration project at Charlestown, in Salford.
Optimised Environments, or OPEN, is a multi-disciplinary design company with masterplanning, urban design, landscape architecture and environmental planning services. The firm employs 30 staff working from studios in Edinburgh, London and now Manchester.
