TSL to fit out Media City UK studio technical block
Peel Media Studios has signed an additional agreement in the form of a letter of intent with broadcast facility suppliers TSL to carry out the supply of equipment as well as the systems integration of Media City UK's studio technical block.
Owned and operated by Peel Media, the studio block is at the heart of the £500m project and will include seven high definition television studios, and two audio studios with one dedicated to the BBC Philharmonic.
A technical block will feature:
- Fully equipped sound and vision control rooms
- Core post facilities
- Central Technical Area
- Dressing rooms
- Make-up rooms
- Workshops
- Set storage
- Green rooms
TSL has been working with Peel Media for the past two years overseeing the installation and professional services for the first phase of Media City UK.
The additional agreement includes the procurement of the broadcast equipment in its entirety.
The technology that has and will be chosen by TSL is subject of detailed tendering processes to suppliers across the broadcast industry.
Bryan Gray, chairman of Peel Media, said: "Peel Media has built an excellent working relationship with TSL and therefore we are delighted to continue working with them and capitalise on their expertise and knowledge to ensure successful technical fit out of the Media City UK studio technical block".
David Phillips, managing director at TSL, added: "Initial pre-building of the system is already underway at our premises in Maidenhead and we shall be following the detailed timeline to ensure completion of the whole programme in 2010 as scheduled."
Peel Media has also recently announced a collaboration with Ascent Media Group to provide a range of services at Media City UK.
