Taylor Wimpey brings forward Green Belt release site
The volume housebuilder has been granted planning permission to build 227 homes in Prescot, Knowsley.
The development, to be called Orchard Park, is situated on Liverpool Road and will provide three- and four-bedroom houses across a total of 20-acres.
Orchard Park is one of nine ‘sustainable urban extension’ sites released from Green Belt classification in the Knowsley Local Plan Core Strategy and will assist Knowsley Council in meeting its identified housing need of more than 8,000 new homes by 2028.
Taylor Wimpey is expecting to start on site in Q1 2021. Within the site area, Whitakers Garden Centre will remain operational until it relocates to new premises.
Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “We are extremely pleased that planning permission has been granted to allow us to provide new homes at this prominent gateway location, that will contribute to the investment being seen in Prescot.
“We are incredibly passionate about supporting the communities in which we build and this new development will bring a large number of benefits to Prescot, including construction jobs and increased economic activity.
“In addition, around £650,000 will be provided to Knowsley Council towards Brown Field Park, the council’s cycle strategy, additional tree planting and improvements to Prescot Medical Centre.”
